Multi-layer plastic bottles are increasingly popular. Given the new consumer and lifestyle habits, demand for processed and fresh packaged foods is directly proportional to the demand for PET/PE films and plastic sheets. Proof of this is that between 12 and 17% of plastic waste is from multi-layer plastics.
This type of bottle usually consists of three layers: an internal layer, with good sealing capacity; an intermediate layer, which acts as a barrier; and the top layer, which provides structural properties. The main advantage of multi-layer materials is that they provide combined the features and functionalities (such as resistance to temperature, heat-sealing capability, flexibility, stiffness and easy stripping capacity) required for food packaging.
